Teacher of History KS3 job summary
Icknield High School is a highly successful multi-cultural 11-16 Academy, situated within Luton. We are justifiably proud of our excellent reputation and believe that we offer both students and staff a caring environment in which they can succeed.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious and motivated History Teacher to join our team, and to teach high quality history lessons to KS3.
Our well-developed History curriculum is based around the question ‘Who are we?’, and considers key events in global history which have had an impact on Britain today. Students show a high level of interest in the subject at KS3, with many students choosing to continue to study History at KS4.
Our friendly and committed team consists of five history teachers, who have a passion for debating and evolving our History provision to ensure the best curriculum for our students. Enrichment is highly valued within the department with current members running history club, chess club and board games club. Annual visits to Heddingham Castle, Wardown Museum and the Clink Museum enhance our curriculum and offer students opportunities to explore history beyond the classroom.
The successful candidate will have a passion for History, be able to display and promote excellence in teaching and learning, and have the potential to make a real difference to the outcomes of our students.
We would welcome visits to the school. Please contact Mrs Tina Freeman, PA to the head teacher via telephone 01582 576561 or e-mail tfreeman@icknield.beds.sch.uk .
If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience for the above position and are interested in joining our staff team, please apply via the Vacancies page on the schools website https://www.icknield.beds.sch.uk/Vacancies/ or directly via My New Term.
