Isebrook School is a successful specialist setting for students aged 11-18 with a broad spectrum of special educational needs and learning disabilities.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a student diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). The successful candidate will work closely with the student, teachers, and other professionals to ensure their individual needs are met, facilitating their access to the curriculum and promoting their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support to the student with FND, both in and out of the classroom, to facilitate their learning and engagement.

  • Implement strategies and interventions tailored to the student's specific needs and abilities, under the guidance of the SEN & Inclusion Lead and advising professionals.

  • Support the student in accessing the curriculum, adapting learning materials and activities as necessary to accommodate their learning style and preferences.

  • Assist with personal care and mobility support as required, ensuring the student's dignity, safety, and comfort at all times.

  • Foster positive relationships with the student, promoting their self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion within the school community.

  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and other professionals involved in the student's care to ensure a coordinated approach to their support in school.

  • Maintain accurate records of the student's progress, achievements and any incidents or concerns in line with school policies and procedures.

Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role, preferably with students with additional needs.

  • Understanding of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and its impact on learning and development, or willingness to undergo training.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with diverse needs.

  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable but not essential)
